Christmas is the park's last act of the year. The decorations go up on 5 December, the gates close for winter after 3 January, and in between you get the models with snow scenes, reindeer and lit facades. Here is what the park and its neighbours have published for December 2026, and where we fall back on past patterns we say so.
The quick answer
Christmas@Mini-Europe runs from 5 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, open daily with a 16:00 or 17:00 close on 24 and 31 December. The Atomium opens 10:00 to 16:00 on 24 and 31 December and 12:00 to 18:00 on 25 December and 1 January. Winter Wonders fills central Brussels from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.
What is Christmas@Mini-Europe?
A themed month from 5 December to 3 January, with life-size props, winter scenes among the models and lights on the facades.
The park's special activities page describes reindeer, a ski lift against a mountain backdrop for photos, Christmas choirs and markets in miniature, snowball fights, winter sports, Santa getting ready on an airport runway and a line of snowmen protesting about global warming. The facades and gardens are lit in the evening.
The page gives day and month but no year. The dates match the 2026 season table exactly, since the park closes on 3 January 2027, so we treat them as this year's. There is no separate Christmas ticket: a normal Mini-Europe ticket covers it.

What are the opening hours over Christmas and New Year?
Mini-Europe opens at 10:00 daily; plan on a 17:00 close, and 16:00 on 24 and 31 December. Last entry is an hour earlier.
Two pages on the park's site disagree. The opening hours table gives 10:00 to 18:00 to 3 January and 10:00 to 17:00 on 24 and 31 December. The Christmas event page says 10:00 to 17:00 every day and 16:00 on the two eves. We would plan on the shorter times. Last entry is one hour before closing either way.
Neither page lists an exception for 25 December or 1 January, and the event page says the park is open every day. The Atomium is more precise on its hours page: noon to 18:00 on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, 10:00 to 16:00 (last entry 15:30) on the eves. The Planetarium closes on all four days.

What is on at the Atomium in December 2026?
No Christmas programme has been published; inside, the 20th-anniversary light installations run all winter.
The Atomium marks 20 years since its renovation in 2026. Its two temporary digital shows, NIMBUS and SUPPLY CHAIN, run into early 2027, and the new ROTONDE light ring around the lower dome glows at nightfall. A December visit means dark by about 16:45, which suits all three. Details and prices are in our Atomium 2026 post.
As of October, the anniversary page lists no specific Christmas event. Buy the official EUR 35 Atomium and Mini-Europe combo on atomium.be if you want both in one day: it saves EUR 7 on two adult gate tickets, but it only works until 3 January, when Mini-Europe shuts.
When is Winter Wonders in Brussels in 2026?
From Friday 27 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, daily from noon to 22:00, in the city centre.
Winter Wonders (Plaisirs d'Hiver) is the City of Brussels' Christmas market, now in its 25th edition. The official site lists 238 chalets spread across Place de la Monnaie, the Vismet, Place Sainte-Catherine, Place de la Bourse, Place De Brouckère, the Black Tower, Rue de la Madeleine and Place Poelaert. The full 2026 programme is due in November.
Hours are 12:00 to 22:00, closing at 18:00 on 24 and 31 December, per the practical page. The Grand-Place sound and light show does not run on those two evenings. The site gives both 27 and 28 November as the start; 27 November is the Friday, and the date in its headline.

How do you combine Heysel and the Christmas market in one day?
Do Mini-Europe and the Atomium from 10:00, then take metro 6 back to the centre for the market after dark.
The order matters in winter. Mini-Europe needs daylight and dry weather, so it goes first: in by 10:00, out by about 13:00. Lunch, then the Atomium and the Design Museum in the afternoon, both indoors. Metro line 6 takes you from Heysel back towards the centre; Yser station is a short walk from Sainte-Catherine and the Vismet, and you arrive as the market lights come on.
If you are already in the centre, the Tootbus hop-on hop-off includes a Mini Europe and Atomium route, which saves working out the metro. For the transport options in detail, see how to get to Mini-Europe.

The official Mini-Europe ticket with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. In December, that is the version to hold.
