The bus out to Heysel

A 24 or 48-hour Tootbus ticket on the Central route around the old town and a second route out to the Atomium and Mini-Europe. Pick it if you want the city sights and Heysel on the same day without working out the metro.

Brussels Hop-On Hop-Off Bus with Mini-Europe Route

About this experience

Tootbus runs electric open-top double-deckers on two loops. The Central route has 6 stops (Central Station, Grand-Place and Manneken Pis, Poelaert, Luxembourg, Cinquantenaire, Place Royale), with the first bus at 10:00, the last at 17:00 and a bus every 30 to 40 minutes. The Mini Europe & Atomium route leaves Central Station from 10:00, last departure 16:00, and runs only every two hours. Commentary comes in 11 languages, with a separate kids' track, and the app adds self-guided walking tours.

The catch is that last line. A bus every two hours means you plan Heysel around the timetable: hop off at the Atomium, spend your hours at Mini-Europe and the spheres, and be back at the stop for a return bus. If you stay on, the stop at the Atomium is short; one guest says 15 minutes, "which isn't enough time". Check the times on tootbus.com the day before.

This ticket covers the bus only. Mini-Europe and the Atomium are extra, and metro line 6 does the same journey to Heysel for a single fare. Tootbus also sells its own bus plus Mini-Europe bundle on its website. Reviews average 4.0 out of 5 from about 4,900 guests: drivers and audio get praise, waits between buses get the complaints.

We had a great time! Highly recommend. Def worth doing this one day so you can see the highlights. Also, it’s easy to transfer from one bus line to another once you’re finished with one. Our drivers were very friendly and the experience overall was wonderful.

Tips before you book

  • Download the Tootbus app before you go. It holds the ticket, live bus tracking and the walking tours.
  • Photograph the Mini Europe & Atomium timetable at the stop when you hop off.
  • Do the Central loop in the morning and Heysel after lunch, so you aren't racing the last bus.
  • Bring your own earphones if you prefer; the listing includes basic ones.
  • Rain? The lower deck is covered, Mini-Europe is not.
