Mini-Europe and Atomium combo

The Atomium stands about 150 metres from the Mini-Europe entrance, and one official ticket covers both. For most visitors it is the best-value ticket at Heysel. Here is what it saves at every age, how to order the day, and the winter weeks when it cannot be used.

The Atomium was built for the 1958 World's Fair; Mini-Europe opened on the old fairground in 1989. Both sit at the north end of the Heysel plateau, and both sell a joint ticket. The Atomium half always includes the Design Museum Brussels, which stands 150 metres from the Atomium.

Prices below come from the Atomium price list and Mini-Europe's rates, checked in October 2026. Hours come from the Atomium and Mini-Europe opening-hours pages.

The quick answer

The official combo costs €35 for adults, €33.20 for seniors, €27.30 for students and teenagers and €21.80 for children over 115 cm up to age 11. An adult saves €7 against two gate tickets (€42). It is non-refundable and only works when both are open: not from 4 January to 12 March 2027, when Mini-Europe closes for winter.

What does the Atomium and Mini-Europe combo include?

Entry to the five open spheres of the Atomium with its panorama and exhibitions, the Design Museum Brussels, and the full Mini-Europe circuit.

The Atomium part is the standard ticket: the panorama in the top sphere, the permanent exhibition on Expo 58 and the building's history, the temporary exhibitions, and the light and sound installations in the upper spheres. The Design Museum Brussels next door adds the Plasticarium collection of plastic design from the 1950s on. The Mini-Europe part is the normal park entry with the guidebook and the Spirit of Europe exhibition.

Allow about an hour and a half inside the Atomium, an hour for the Design Museum, and two to three hours for Mini-Europe. The lift to the top sphere is the bottleneck in busy weeks. Rosemarie, a GetYourGuide guest, wrote in August 2026: "The queue was so long that it took several minutes before we got to the elevator." Simon, in July, was happier with the pairing: "[...] combined it with a trip to Mini-Europe on the same site."

Age bands differ between the two attractions, and the combo uses the Atomium's: adult 18 to 64, senior 65 and over, teenager 12 to 17, and child from 115 cm up to age 11. Children of 115 cm or under are free at both.

How much does the combo save?

€7 per adult against gate prices, and more for teenagers and seniors. Against Mini-Europe's online price the saving shrinks to €3.70.

The arithmetic depends on who is paying. An adult pays €17 at the Atomium and €25 at Mini-Europe's gate: €42 against €35. A teenager pays the Atomium's child rate (€9) but Mini-Europe's adult rate (€25), so €34 separately against €27.30 in the combo. A senior saves most, because Mini-Europe has no senior price: €40 separately, €33.20 combined.

Two GetYourGuide tickets, the Mini-Europe ticket ($24) and the Atomium ticket ($19), come to $43, which is a few euros more than the combo. What the extra buys is free cancellation on both. With a fixed day and a good forecast, take the combo. With an uncertain week, pay the difference.

Where do you buy the combo, and what are the rules?

Online on the Atomium or Mini-Europe website, or at either cash desk on the day. It cannot be refunded.

Both attractions sell the combo, and Mini-Europe says combination tickets are always available at its cash desk with no capacity limit. The Atomium adds online transaction fees, so buying at a cash desk on the day is often a little cheaper than buying online from the Atomium. Mini-Europe's 48-hour online discount does not apply to the combo.

Three rules matter. The Atomium ticket is valid between 10:00 and 17:30 on the date you choose, so plan both on the same day. Mini-Europe's tickets, combos included, are not refundable or exchangeable. And an online ticket lets you skip the cash desk at the Atomium but not the queue for the lift. One GetYourGuide guest, Phillip, wrote in July 2026: "We spent more time in line to take the lift than we did on the observation deck."

Which should you visit first, the Atomium or Mini-Europe?

The Atomium at 10:00, then Mini-Europe after lunch. The Atomium is busiest from 11:00 to 15:00, and Mini-Europe stays open later.

The Atomium's own advice is to arrive at opening or after 17:00, and to avoid the peak between 11:00 and 15:00. Its last entry is 17:30, while Mini-Europe's last entry is 17:00 (18:00 in July and August). Starting at the Atomium uses the quiet hour and leaves the outdoor park for the afternoon light.

The Atomium is not step-free. Apart from the top sphere, reached by lift, the GetYourGuide listing warns of 80 steps up and 167 steps down, and says the building is not suitable for wheelchairs. Mini-Europe's paths are fully accessible. With a buggy or a wheelchair user in the group, see the panorama by lift and spend the rest of the day in the park.

For food, one guest, Claire, suggested in July 2026: "If you want something to eat/drink use the cafe outside the atomium". Mini-Europe's self-service restaurant sits at the end of its circuit.

When does the combo not work?

From 4 January to 12 March 2027, when Mini-Europe is closed, and on short-hours days. The Atomium also closes from 18 January to 5 February 2027.

Mini-Europe is a seasonal park: 2026 runs from 14 March to 3 January 2027. The Atomium is open all year apart from its annual maintenance closure. Between 4 and 17 January, and from 6 February to 12 March 2027, only the Atomium is open; between 18 January and 5 February neither is.

Watch the short days too. On 24 and 31 December the Atomium opens 10:00 to 16:00 (last entry 15:30) and Mini-Europe closes at 17:00. On 25 December and 1 January the Atomium opens at noon. The Atomium may also close early for events, so check its page on the morning you go.

Is there a guided way to do both?

Yes: a private guide-driver who brings you from your hotel with both tickets, or app audio tours for each sight.

The private Atomium and Mini-Europe tour with transport is the door-to-door version: five hours with a guide-driver, the car and both entry tickets, from $392. It is new on GetYourGuide with no reviews yet, and lunch is extra. For a family that would otherwise take two taxis and buy four combos, the gap is smaller than it looks.

On a budget, the Atomium ticket with audio tour ($33) adds app commentary and a separate audio walk in the city, and the Mini-Europe ticket with Expo Village audio ($50) adds an app tour of the old World's Fair grounds. Neither includes a live guide. For most visitors the official combo and the free Mini-Europe guidebook are enough; the Atomium's exhibitions are well labelled in English, and the park's guidebook covers every stage of the route. The getting there guide covers the metro, which is all most visitors need.

Frequently asked questions

How far is the Atomium from Mini-Europe?

About 150 metres, a walk of two or three minutes. Both are at Bruparck on the Heysel plateau, and metro station Heysel is about five minutes from each.

Can I use the combo on two different days?

Plan on one day. The Atomium part is valid from 10:00 to 17:30 on the date you choose, and Mini-Europe tickets cannot be exchanged.

Is the combo cheaper than the Brussels Card?

For Heysel alone, yes. The combo costs €35 per adult; the Brussels Card starts at about $46 for 24 hours on GetYourGuide and pays off only if you also visit several museums in the city.

Does the combo include the Design Museum Brussels?

Yes. Every Atomium ticket includes the Design Museum Brussels, 150 metres from the Atomium, open 11:00 to 19:00.
