Mini-Europe's last weeks before winter

Mini-Europe runs a shorter day from October and then shuts for ten weeks after New Year. Here is the calendar to 2027, and what still opens at Heysel while the park is dark.

The park publishes its season on its opening hours page, and the 2026 table runs all the way to the first weekend of 2027. From 1 October the gates open at 10:00 instead of 09:30, and they close at 18:00. That pattern holds through Halloween, Christmas and New Year.

Then comes the long break. Mini-Europe is closed from Monday 4 January to Friday 12 March 2027, which takes out the whole of January, February and early March. If your Brussels trip falls in that window, you will see the models only from the other side of the fence.

The quick answer

Mini-Europe is open daily 10:00 to 18:00 from 1 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, with 10:00 to 17:00 on 24 and 31 December. Last entry is one hour before closing. The park is closed from 4 January to 12 March 2027 and reopens for the 2027 season after that; the Atomium, the Design Museum and the Planetarium next door stay open for most of the closure.

What are Mini-Europe's opening hours for the rest of 2026?

10:00 to 18:00 every day from 1 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, with an early close at 17:00 on 24 and 31 December.

The autumn timetable cuts half an hour from the morning, nothing more. The rule that catches people is the last entry: the ticket office stops letting visitors in one hour before closing, which means 17:00 on a normal autumn day and 16:00 on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. A full visit takes two to three hours, so arriving at 16:30 buys you a rushed lap at best.

The park's events page lists a different set of times for the Christmas period: 10:00 to 17:00 daily, closing at 16:00 on 24 and 31 December. We would plan on those shorter hours in December, since the light is gone by about 16:45 anyway. The park itself says all times are subject to change, and it is worth a look the day before you go.

Is anything special on before the park closes?

Yes: Halloween@Mini-Europe from 17 October to 8 November, then Christmas@Mini-Europe from 5 December to 3 January.

The park dresses the models twice each autumn. For Halloween, spiders climb the Eiffel Tower, there are skeletons, zombies and pumpkins in the scenes, and actors work the paths from 30 October to 1 November, per the special activities page. The dates span the Belgian autumn school holidays, so expect local families on those weekends.

From 5 December the theme switches to Christmas, with reindeer, a ski lift backdrop for photos and lit facades after dark. We cover that period in detail in our Christmas at Heysel post. One more thing on the same page: the park is draining basins and rockwork in the Algarve and Porto areas this autumn to fit new liners. Some water features in that corner may be dry or screened off until 2027.

When is Mini-Europe closed in 2027?

From Monday 4 January to Friday 12 March 2027, every day, for the annual closure.

The closure is the park's winter maintenance window. The models are outdoors all year, and the workshops use the quiet weeks for repairs and new pieces. No tickets are sold for those dates, online or at the gate.

The 2026 season opened on Saturday 14 March. The 2027 closure ends on Friday 12 March, which puts the first open day on Saturday 13 March 2027. The park has not published its 2027 hours yet; in 2026 spring hours were 09:30 to 18:00, and we expect the same pattern. When it does publish them, our opening hours guide gets the table.

Should you buy tickets now for a December visit?

Only with free cancellation. The park's own tickets are non-refundable, and December weather is a gamble.

Mini-Europe is an outdoor park with little shelter. Guests report that rain makes the visit hard work, and in December rain is the base case in Brussels. The park's website sells dated adult tickets from EUR 21.70 if you book 48 hours ahead, against EUR 25 at the gate, but those tickets cannot be refunded or changed.

The same official ticket on GetYourGuide costs about $24 and cancels free up to 24 hours before. For a winter date we would take the flexibility over the small saving: check the forecast the day before, and cancel if it looks grim. Children under 115 cm go in free either way. Full prices are in our ticket price guide.

What can you do at Heysel while Mini-Europe is closed?

The Atomium, the Design Museum Brussels and the Planetarium all stay open through most of January to March.

The Atomium is 150 metres away and opens daily 10:00 to 18:00, except for its own maintenance break from 18 January to 5 February 2027. The adult ticket is EUR 17 and includes the Design Museum Brussels, which runs a show on Czech graphic design until 7 March 2027. More on both in our Atomium 2026 post.

The Brussels Planetarium sits on the same plateau, at Boechoutlaan 10, with films under the dome for EUR 8 per adult and EUR 6 for children. Kinepolis, the big cinema complex at Bruparck, is right beside the park's entrance. That is a fair half-day in the rain. It is not a substitute for the models, and if Mini-Europe is the reason for the trip, move the trip to after 13 March.
